Man, how I wish I was the one holding that frame! It looks sweet! Can we get a close-up shot? Also, how's the weather? Can you still see green, or is it all white outside? It'd be nice if you didn't have to wait four or five months to try that beauty out!

Sweeet frame. It looks nice and burly for its weight (judging by the lack of strain your daughter is showing).

Yeah it's pretty beefy compared to my 02' frame but I'm thinking about selling it and going even newer. I have a connection to buying a new Giant at cost - so I'm considering going with the Trance 3. The NRS is actually discontinued in 06' and is being replaced by a bike called the Anthem. The Anthem is a beautiful bike but it only has 3 inches of travel and even though I ride cross country I've been spoiled by 4 inches. Check out Giant's site for some pics - the catch is I have to decide by this Friday!!! Let me know your thoughts Jer! I don't have really any extra money these days but it is an amazing opportunity. I'm guessing I can get around $900 for my NRS and so that should help.

The Trance line looks great, and it's hard to argue with any new bike at cost. Unless your existing components are in excellent (like new) shape and you really love that frame style...it would seem that you should take the opportunity to pick up the new one.

Either way, it's all good.

I got a great (and chilly) ride in this afternoon, but it's looking like the weekend might dump a blanket of snow on us...

Well - I took the plunge and ordered the Giant Trance 3 - a nice shiny blue. Not the highest end components but it will do me fine! I came close to ordering a road bike but I'll save it for next year. I may have to fast for a few months to actually pay for it even with the discount. Plus we want to get away for our ten year anniversary in June.

About that fast Garth I could hook you up. Be careful what you suggest unless you got the marbles to do it;)

I've done a few 30 hour famines but never fasted for more than that. It has always interested me moreso just to see if I could do it. I realize that there are some temporary physical benefits and spiritual/mental ones as well. Right now I'm more interested in getting sleep - I may have to try sleeping more than 6 hours...it's been awhile.

Congrats -- should be awesome to have that new bike in spring.

We got the predicted dump(s) of snow, so that may be it for my season too, unless we get some weird warm weather in December like las year.

Always a sad day - do you still ski or snowboard? You have that advantage over us as well - I'll probably pull out the cross country skiis this year to stay in shape but it all depends on our snow. Too much to bike, too little to ski right now - grrrr!

My snowboarding has tapered off these last few years since the girls came on the scene, but it used to be pretty much equal to biking for me...and quite compatible. It's still super fun to go carve snow, but really expensive and takes an all-day time commitment that's harder to fit in these days.

I'm getting back into hockey these last couple of winters -- great exercise too.
